Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI): Correcting Principles and Teens

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a set of principles and interventions designed to help families who are raising children who come from “hard places.” Children who have experienced the trauma of abuse, neglect, chaos, and prenatal drug and alcohol exposure often have behaviors that are extreme and perplexing to their caregivers. Parents look to mental health professionals in their efforts to understand their children’s struggles. TBRI offers concrete tools and concepts that direct care staff and therapists can learn and work into their therapeutic interventions to help families so that children can reach their highest potential.
